How to deal w/ Russian Spam

Via TW from @tripit!

To create a filter that will send all Cyrillic-alphabet letters into the bin,

  1. Click on a feedback message (any one)
  2. More Actions -> Filter messages like these
  3. For the subject enter this string, which has all the unicode Cyrillic letters in it ( their M is different then regular Latin M, etc.) :

А|а|Б|б|В|в|Г|г|Д|д|Е|е|Ж|ж|З|з|И|и|Й|й|К|к|Л|л|М|м|Н|н|О|о|П|п|Р|р|

С|с|Т|т|У|у|Ф|ф|Х|х|Ц|ц|Ч|ч|Ш|ш|Щ|щ|Ъ|ъ|Ы|ы|Ь|ь|Э|э|Ю|ю|Я|я|Ѐ|ѐ|

Ё|ё|Ђ|ђ|Ѓ|ѓ|Є|є|Ѕ|ѕ|І|і|Ї|ї|Ј|ј|Љ|љ|Њ|њ|Ћn|ћ|Ќ|ќ

  1. Then delete or do whatever you like with those messages, and create the filter.  Interestingly, Gmail doesn't let you create filter to mark things as spam.
If, for some kooky reason, you wanted to delete only Russian messages, then delete all characters after the lower-case e with an umlaut.  To the left are all Russian letters, to the right include Ukrainian, Serbian, Macedonian, etc.
